Diet Modification for Best Acne Treatments:
- Reduce intake of high glycemic index carbohydrates, sugars and simple carbohydrates from your diet. Eliminate soda and sugary drinks. Cut down cookies, candy and deserts. Dial down potatoes, pasta and rice. Instead opt for lots of water, fresh fruits & vegetables, whole grain breads, brown rice
- Reduce intake of saturated fats: Such as deep fried foods, pizza, cheese burgers and fries etc. Instead choose grilled lean, organic meat, or stir fried, baked and broiled meats.Cook with olive oil
- Eliminate all dairy from your diet: Dairy contains many ingredients which cause skin inflammation. Organic dairy is better but even organic milk contains hormones that can exacerbate your acne
Modify Stress for Best Acne Treatment:
Acne gets worse during periods of stress, if you have acne, you probably already know this. Chronic stress causes hormonal imbalance which is responsible for increase in skin inflammation, increase in oil production and poor skin healing, all worsen acne. Learn to manage your stress better, remember you may not be able to change your circumstances but you can certainly change how you react to whatever is presented to you. Make time to relax, meditate, exercise to lower your stress level.
Modify Physical Activity for Best Acne Treatment:
Get moving to clear your skin! Regular physical activity improves skin circulation, increases nutrient delivery for quick repair and recovery. Regular exercise also reduces stress mediators and insulin levels and lowers chronic inflammation. Ideally exercise in a cool environment without constricting clothing and combine aerobic with strength training for best results.
Remember, excess sweating in very hot climate can actually exacerbate acne by overproduction of sweat, oils and pore clogging.
