What is IPL Photo-rejuvenation?
Photoaging from years of sun exposure leads to discoloration, rough texture, course and fine lines, sun spots, broken capillaries and poor skin texture IPL(Intense Pulsed Light) targets the dark pigment in skin and the red pigment in broken or dilated blood vessels to instantly destroy brown sunspots and minimize dilated and broken capillaries. IPL treatments improve the appearance of enlarged pores, coarse or rough skin, poor skin tone and loss of elasticity which makes it an excellent treatment for photoaging and for rosacea.
What to expect during the treatments?
The treatment is done by one of our experienced, laser trained medical aestheticians. The treated area is iced and with cool gel. Most people describe the IPL as sensation of a rubber band snap. We start conservatively to assess the response of your skin and gradually increase the intensity of treatment at each subsequent visit for best results with fewer side effects
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments do get the desired results depends on the type of skin and skin response to treatment. On average most people need 4-5 sessions, 2-3 weeks apart for best results which can be maintained with touch up treatments every few months
What are the potential side effects of IPL?
The IPL destroys sunspots and broken capillaries with heat, skin burn is the most common side effect from IPL. Superficial and mild skin burns heal without any scarring and are sometimes unavoidable to get the desired results. Sometimes skin burns can lead to hyperpigmentation especially in darker skin type, therefore dark skinned individuals are not the best candidates for this treatment
What areas can be treated with IPL?
The treatment is suitable for any exposed area of your body with sun damage. Face, decolletage, back of hands, arms are some of the most common areas treated in our office
