Hand Aging-5 Point Scale.jpg

The hands are the most visible uncovered area of the body after face and neck. It is a surprise that hand rejuvenation has been largely neglected despite great advances in facial cosmetic treatments.A lot of our Cosmetic patients are bothered by the aged appearance of their hands which does not go well with their youthful face, and request hand rejuvenationtoxins, smoking etc and consists of pigment changes, solar spots, poor texture etc. Deep ageing is due to the loss of collagen, elastin and sub-cutaneous fat and manifests as thinner skin, increased prominence of veins, tendons and joints on the back of the hands.
Depending on the extent of aging, hands can be effectivelt rejuvenated with a combination of treatments to address surface and deep aging
For surface aging, we use treatments from prescription skin cremes to IPL Fotofacial or CO2 fractional laser resurfacing for texture and pigment reduction.

For deep aging, dermal fillers are the best treatment for volume restoration and reduction of apperance of veins, tendons and joints.
My personal dermal filler of choice for back of the hands is Radiesse (calcium hydroxylapatite) which is a semi-permanent filler meant to induce intrinsic collagen production and last for up to 18 months.

Volume restoration with dermal fillers such as Radiesse has been shown to improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and prominent structures in the ageing hand. I have successfully treated countless patients for hand aging with a combination of treatments at our Dallas and Southlake cosmetic skincare offices.
