As we age the skin around the eyes loses elasticity and firmness which leads to droopy, tired, sad-looking eyes. Mild sagging of the eyelids can be improved with non-surgical treatments such as NovaThreads, CO2 fractional laser, and injectable Radiofrequency. Non-surgical eyelift treatments have limitations, and the results are less dramatic than surgical eyelift; combining two appropriate treatments, we can enhance the results for a little more dramatic eyelid lift than any of the non-surgical eyelift treatments alone.

NovaThread for Non-surgical EyeLift

Our patient immediately after NovaThread eyelift, individual response varies

NovaThreads are synthetic absorbable surgical sutures composed of polydioxanone (PDO). PDO sutures are used to close surgical incisions in cardiothoracic surgery (such as open-heart surgery). It’s one of the safest materials to be implanted in the body.

 NovaThread Nu-mesh and Nu-lift

Nu-Mesh, consists of creating a mesh under the skin (i.e. 2 sutures inserted vertically & 3 sutures horizontally). Sort of like a #hashtag, or a net. This Mesh will serve as the foundation for our new collagen production. The NuMesh tightens the skin naturally from within. Results appear naturally, without any drastic change!

Nu-Lift is utilized to produce a more dramatic and immediate result. The PDO sutures have “barbs” or “cogs”, which provide a grip underneath the skin. Sutures are inserted the same way, except they can be pulled in 1 or 2 directions, creating an instant skin repositioning. Just like the NuMesh, the skin will then build new collagen which will secure the lift!

BOTOX® Non-surgical Eyelift

Our patient, before and one week after Botox non-surgical eyelift, individual response varies

BOTOX® is a prescription medication formulated with botulinum toxin clinically used to block the nerve signal to a target area, usually muscle or sweat glands. For wrinkle reduction, BOTOX® works by relaxing the muscles of expression. The most common side effect of BOTOX® forehead and eye area wrinkle treatment is transient drooping of the eyelids or ptosis.

Experienced injectors achieve “BOTOX® eyelift” by selectively relaxing the upper eyelid depressors which leads to a relative increase in the strength of eyelid elevators and a “non-surgical BOTOX® eyelift”. The extent of eyelift that can be achieved varies with individual eye muscle anatomy, shape and strength.

NovaThread Plus Botox Combination Non-surgical Eyelift

Our patient, 3 weeks after NovaThread + Botox eyelift, individual results vary

For NovaThread non-surgical eyebrow lift, we use the NovaThread barb sutures or Nu-lift to immediately raise the upper eyelid and eyebrows and the NovaThread smooth sutures or Nu-mesh in the region of temples for improvement of skin texture and thickness over 8-12 weeks following the treatment.
We often combine the NovaThread eyelift with Botox treatment for best results at the time of or a few days before the NovaThread eyelift. The Botox treatment reduces the downward pull of the eyelid depressors allowing the NovaThread barb Nu-lift to maximally lift the upper eyelids and the NovaThread Nu-mesh to induce collagen without the dynamic skin wrinkling of temples.
The treatment is about as invasive as dermal filler injections. The results last 12-18 months. Over 90% of patients have very minimal downtime after the treatment.
